關於 TJIMUR藝術生活節由蒂摩爾古薪舞集創辦,以部落和原住民⽂化為主體的「TJIMUR 藝術⽣活節」,⾃2018 年起,每年透過不同議題進⾏命題,積極策劃以⽀持部落⽂化永續和創作持續對內、對外交流的微型藝術節,⽤藝術的思維和⽅法,經由策展、駐村、現地製作、部落⾛讀及民眾參與等設計,打破(被)觀看、表演、⽣活、創作和參與的主、客身份界線。將被凝視的客體,或被異化的⽂化身份重新定位,更重要是堅持⾃⾏策劃和執⾏,結合不定額公共資源補助,試圖將藝術節策辦的⽬的,翻轉為⼀種⾃我實驗、對照和培⼒的藝術⾏動。

About TJIMUR ARTS FESTIVALFounded by the Tjimur Dance Theatre, the Tjimur Arts Festival, which focuses on the culture of Indigenous people and their communities, has been organized around different issues since 2018. A micro art festival about supporting the continuation of Indigenous culture, it serves as a venue for exchanges among those within and outside of the community. With an art-based mindset and methodology and through the curation, artist residencies in the community, the on-site production of art, in-depth tours of the community, and participation by attendees, we break down the identity boundaries between the artists and attendees that are usually associated with watching (and being watched), performance, everyday life, artistic creation, and event attendance. We are creating a new orientation for alienated cultural identities and, more importantly, do all the organizing and work on our own (the government subsidy for the event changes each year). We look to make the festival one of artistic-based experimentation for, cross reference with, and empowerment of the self.

Varhung~聲之身
不只是策展主題, 更是排灣族內⼼情感的表達⽅式。
「Varhung」為排灣族語,不僅意指「⼼」的表象稱呼,更是表達內在情感的交流,也因⼈類的喜怒哀樂等不同情緒所產⽣的感受,⽽強調內斂的真實情感,在在反映出排灣族⼈含蓄、唯美⽽⾼雅的真摯之情。同時,「Varhung」與蒂摩爾身體技巧中強調「以歌入舞」和「呼吸轉化」雙軸線互為表裡,⽤當代的⾏動來回應族語中「Varhung」意即⼼與內在真實情感的情境。對於本身沒有⽂字的排灣族⼈,⾃古以來保有以歌入舞的傳統,來表現內在多層次的情感,其詩意般的表達,吐出之輕收受之重,坎入⼼的「Varhung」,話語中當下即掏⼼掏肺又帶有未知的想像預⾔,令⼈追憶又難忘。
作為揮別疫後陰霾再出發的「TJIMUR 藝術⽣活節」,第五屆特以《Varhung~聲之身》為今年的策展主題,提醒⼈們放⼼的重新把⾃⼰交給呼吸,從⾃⼰的呼吸來帶動身體動能,由外顯的肢體型態來推演內⼼的脈動。藉由呼吸引動身體及其步伐,透過身體重⼼下沉的蹲與踏,來回應對⼟地的謙卑與依戀;⽽吟唱古謠的聲⾳⾃然地延展身體,長出獨特的「身線」(身體線條),從身體來回應眾⼈的齊唱,滲透入⼼和⽣命的本質,於是《Varhung~聲之身》是⼀種對於初衷的探尋,⼀種關乎⼼、關乎彼此、關乎⼈與⼟地間的情感,以及關乎傳統與當代融會的作為。

Varhung—The Infinite Body of Sound
Not only the theme of the festival but also an expression of the Paiwan heart.
The Paiwan word “varhung” means “heart” and “the exchange of inner feelings.” As each human emotion is different, this word emphasizes true internal feelings and reflects the sincere reservation, beauty, and class of the Paiwan people. Also, the word and the skills of the troupe stress how dancing is based on singing and how breathing is transformed, which mutually influence each other. Contemporary dance movements are our response to this varhung. The Paiwan language has no written form (except for the relatively recent Romanized form), and song has always been the director of dance, both of which express multiple layers of sentiment. The poetic expression of ‘varhung’ is easily conveyed, but its weighty meaning requires effort to truly take in. Its concept digs deep into the heart and carries a sense of unknown prophecy that causes retrospection and becomes ingrained in the memory.
The theme of the fifth edition of Tjimur Arts Festival, the first since Covid’s grip has finally relaxed, is based on the Tjimur Dance Theatre piece Varhung—The Infinite Body of Sound in an effort to remind people to relax and give themselves over to breathing, which will in turn guide their bodily movement in expressing their inner feelings. Breathing can guide bodies and steps, and squatting and stepping in positions of low center of gravity are how we express humbleness and dependency on the land. The singing of ballads helps to extend the body and present a unique “body contour” (the lines of the body) while the body can respond to the singing and further penetrate into the nature of the heart and life. Thus, Varhung—The Infinite Body of Sound is an exploration of our earliest ambitions and an act of attention for the heart, each other, the feelings between people and the land, and the fusion of the traditional and the contemporary.

策展人 / 路之・瑪迪霖屏東縣三地門鄉地磨兒部落排灣族人,蒂摩爾古薪舞集創辦人暨藝術總監,臺南應用科技大學兼任講師,畢業於臺南應用科技大學舞蹈系、國立屏東大學文化創意產業研究所,曾擔任國家表演藝術中心董事,長年居住於部落,是地磨兒樂舞文化傳承者、樂舞文化藝術教學者,tjimur身體技巧研發者。
Curator / Ljuzem MADILJINLjuzem MADILJIN is the Founder and the Artistic Director of Tjimur Dance Theatre. Upon her graduation from the Dance Department at Tainan University of Technology, and completed the master's degree in Department of Cultural and Creative Industries at National Pintung University. She returned to her hometown, Tjimur Village in Pingtung County, where she started her career teaching and dancing more than 15 years ago. Now, she is pursuing her master’s degree in the Graduate Institute of Cultural Creative Industries at the University of Pingtung.

策展人 / 巴魯・瑪迪霖屏東縣三地門鄉地磨兒部落排灣族人,畢業於國立臺北藝術大學舞蹈學院,旅居都市十二年。2009 年回到家鄉與姊姊路之.瑪迪霖一同承擔傳統文化學習與藝術分享之工作,擔任舞團舞蹈總監暨主要創作者。 擅長重新架構舞蹈形式與音樂美學的想像,巴魯融合並交錯的藝術美學,充分展現了對藝術的生命力與原創性,也致力於詮釋原住民藝術的不同視角與多元豐富的層次,屢次獲國際肯定。
Curator / Baru MADILJINBaru MADILJIN graduated from the School of Dance of Taipei National University of the Arts and has lived in the city for 12 years. In 2009, Baru Madiljin returned to his hometown, Sandimen in Pingtung, to join his sister in the work of passing on the indigenous culture and arts. He became the Choreographer and Dance Director of Tjimur Dance Theatre. Baru MADILJIN attempts to reconstruct the public’s impression on dance forms and music aesthetics. His works fully showcase his creative energy and innovations through integrating and interweaving various art forms; he also interprets indigenous arts with different perspectives and diverse concepts.

Based in Luxembourg, Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang is a Taiwanese producer for creative projects and has worked extensively as curator in the performing arts sector and adviser for intercultural communication throughout Europe, Asia, and Taiwan over the last twenty years. She collaborates with Tjimur Dance Theatre for strategic projects and programming at Tjimur Arts Festival, and is the international affairs consultant for Shinehouse Theatre, Want To Dance Festival, and as the partner of James Batchelor and Collaborators for international developments.
Her main focus is on fostering cultural exchange between Asia, Europe and beyond, supporting emerging talents to realize their projects by producing, curating, analyzing the market and providing valuable advice. Her indisputable strong points are a thorough knowledge of the sector, the ability to bring together the right people, talents and minds and to inspire them for joint projects, her extensive experience in fostering intercultural collaboration, as well as her language skills including interpreting between English, French, German and her native languages.
Gwen was former head of international partnerships at Weiwuying (2017-2021) and also the international guest curator of 2022 Tanzkongress - Sharing Potentials. She is Aerowaves Exchange Partner, steering committee member of Circus Asia Network (CAN).
